Problems are a sign of life. The only people who don’t have to solve problems are dead. I was listening to a webinar the other day by Darren Hardy – the publisher of Success magazine – and he said, “The size of your life will be determined by the size of the problems you solve.”

See problems as challenges in the game of business and life. Embrace them. Enjoy the challenge and you will reap the reward. Fighters do not take their eye off the ball, they enjoy anticipating and preparing for what the opponent will do next.

There is a range of problems that we can encounter, from a minuscule problem – “I have run out of paperclips” – to a mammoth problem – “How can I solve world poverty?” Or in terms of setting goals it can be, “This is where I am now, and this is where I want to be”. As a business owner, the bigger or more common the problem our business can solve the more value we can provide.

When setting a goal we want to make sure that it moves us closer to having a better life, and that we recognise that not all opportunities that are presented to us are a reason to take action.
