That’s a pretty bold statement, but it’s true.

We have all experienced the awkward silence when we have followed up with a prospective client and we can’t get hold of them.  They are not responding to our beautifully crafted e-mails asking for feedback and our polite phone messages we leave.

The reality today is, people are busy, they don’t have time to respond to long e-mails and often they are reading your e-mail on their phones.

So, here’s the solution ……. a short, polite e-mail, where you ask for a response.  One of two things will happen.  They will respond, and you know where you stand, or they won’t respond, and you know that it’s highly likely they are not interested in what you have to offer, and you can move on.

Next time you feel you are getting the silent treatment just send a short e-mail.

One of my favourites is:

Hi (First Name) are you still interested in (very short description of what your proposal or quote was).

The whole e-mail should only be one sentence.
